The Department of Communication at the University of Passau currently comprises five chairs and professorships. In these five units, around twenty communication scholars conduct research and teach on a broad spectrum of socially relevant topics.
Their work focuses on journalism research, science communication, digital, strategic and political communication, among others.
The members of the department teach primarily in the bachelor's program "Journalism and Strategic Communication" and in the master's program "Communication in Digital Societies". In addition, they contribute to teaching in BA and MA programs oriented toward the humanities and cultural sciences as well as economics.
