Daud Samute
Biography
Daud Samute is a DAAD Helmut Schmidt scholar at the University of Passau, where he's pursuing a Master of Arts in Development Studies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Gender and Development Studies from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Malawi. His expertise includes designing and implementing research-driven interventions that support the development of women and youth, with a focus on sustainable fisheries, public health nutrition, rural finance, and agricultural development.
He previously served as a Gender and Youth Development Officer for various NGO projects, achieving key impacts such as connecting women and youth fish traders to financial institutions and promoting mobile money solutions in rural fishing communities. In addition, Daud has experience in social work, supporting the rehabilitation of street-connected children and leading community awareness and educational campaigns, including nutrition programs for pregnant and new mothers in rural under 5 clinics.
