Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern (vhb)
As part of the vhb projects, the professorship has developed two online courses for the Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern (vhb), which have been offered on the vhb platform each semester for all students of Bavarian universities since 2016. The courses were developed in cooperation with the Chair of International Politics and Conflict Research (Professor Dr Stephan Stetter) at the Bundeswehr University Munich. Since the Winter semester 2020, the Chair of International Relations (Professor Dr Tim Büthe) of the Hochschule für Politik at the Technical University of Munich has also been involved in the project. Interested students are welcome to register for the courses at any time.
vhb-Course "Regionalism and Global Governance"
The online seminar (in English language; masterclass/advanced seminar) deals with the topic of regional political integration. Different regional organisations from several continents are introduced and analyzed. The aim of the online seminar is to examine not only the institutional characteristics of regional organisations (structures, decision-making processes) but also their increasing role in the provision of governance services in a global context. Given that interregional agreements are increasingly displacing inter- and bi-national agreements between states, regional organizations are assuming a growing role in "global governance without a world state".

vhb-Course "Sicherheitsbedrohungen in der Internationalen Politik"
The online seminar (in German language; introductory seminar) is aimed at undergraduate students and was first offered in the summer semester 2017. The course deals with both classic and newer types of threats and provides an insight into how threats are constructed and perceived in international politics based on the securitization theory of the Copenhagen School. The individual sessions of the course also deal in particular with new threats such as climate change (environmental security), pan- and epidemics such as Ebola or Coronavirus (public health) and transnational organized crime.

What do I have to do to attend one of the courses?
Register on the vhb website (kurse.vhb.org), find the preferred course in the course directory and sign up for it.
Please note that you have to register twice for examinations on vhb courses (i.e. once in the vhb system and then again at your home university, e.g. in Hisqis) so that you can have the ECTS credited to you without any problems. In the online courses themselves, you will find a detailed list of frequently asked questions and the corresponding answers. Individual recognition questions should be clarified with the respective programme or module coordinators before the course begins.
