Active societies
The "Projekt Südostasien" (PSOA) is the University society for all students with an interest in Southeast Asia. Our membership and our activities are as diverse and colourful as the region itself. Activities include projects, discussion panels and events on topics related to culture, politics and languages of Southeast Asia. Events planned for the 2020 summer semester include a summer party, as well as regular get-togethers and cookery evenings. All are welcome, to make a small or large contribution to the work of the group, or simply to come and look. For up-to-date information about our meetings and projects, visit us on Facebook @psoa.passau and Instagram @psoa_passau.
The SDG is the University society for students of Development Studies. It is intended as the first point of contact for new students at the University, helping them to find their feet and adapt to academic life in Germany. Our five principal objectives are representation, organization, discussion, integration and support. To these ends the DSG organizes networking meetings and discussion panels on a range of regional issues that are relevant for study at the University. We also produce short videos on key topics covered by the course in Development Studies.
Former societies
Springroll was a magazine produced by and for students of Southeast Asian studies at the University of Passau. The content ranged from reports on work experience and travel in Southeast Asia to background stories and recipes, as well as news from the Chairs. The intention was to produce one issue per semester. Sadly after only two issues the magazine ceased publication when the initial editorial team completed their studies at the University.
Proposals to relaunch the magazine would be warmly welcomed!
