Indonesia field trip 2019
From 9–12 March 2019, fifteen students took part in an expedition to Jakarta and Bogor under the leadership of Dr. Frederike Trotter and the Indonesian language teacher Kartika Wulang. Students engaged in a range of activities that explored different aspects of the theme of human–nature relations in Indonesia. To prepare for the excursion, in the 2019–20 winter semester, the students had attended a seminar about Indonesian society and culture and presented their ideas for research projects. The principle aim of the excursion was for students to engage with environmental issues on the ground, in addition to familiarizing themselves with Indonesian culture and the daily lives of Indonesian students. It was also a great opportunity for students studying Indonesian to apply their newly acquired language skills.
